(Pictured: Our Quality Control Department)

Standby employees once again truly embraced the real meaning of our ‘Tis the Season food drive. As a company, we donated a total of 2,242 items to the local food bank. Together we are feeding 150 local families, as well as several victims of the large apartment fire that happened in Olmsted Falls just a few months ago. We want to thank all of our employees very much for their generosity and for providing an even happier holiday to so many.

Our winning department in the food drive competition was the Quality/Toolcrib team. They had a two-week-long battle with the Shipping department, but they were able sneak past them and seize the win with a grand total of 1,263 items. As promised, our Quality Department will receive a pizza lunch compliments of Standby Screw.

We are very proud to work with people who care so much about others less fortunate than themselves. Thank you, Standby Employees!

Standby Screw is Now ISO 9001:2015 Certified

Saying your organization is committed to quality is one thing; taking the steps necessary to officially implement standards and practices that demonstrate a dedication to client success is another. Here at Standby Screw, we’re proud to announce that we’ve recently achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification. The latest in quality assurance management and operations for manufacturers, earning our ISO 9001:2015 accreditation not only means we maintain the ability to work with all types of clients with strict guidelines and requirements, but that we hold ourselves, our products and our work to the highest expectations of reliability and dependability.

Re-certifying from 2008 to 2015 meant planning for and implementing a wider scope of requirements, a more thorough evaluation of our systems and an organization’s-worth of determination; achieving ISO 9001:2015 was certainly a group effort of which we’re very proud.

The ‘Tis The Season Food Drive That Was Almost Too Close to Call

The team members here at Standby Screw recognize how fortunate we are to have not only things we need, but a lot of what we want as well. And in knowing this, we find ourselves wanting to share with those in our community that may have fallen on harder times. It’s this spirit of giving that inspired Standby Screw’s annual ‘Tis the Season food drive; we work to collect food items that can be donated to our local food bank, that are then distributed over the holiday season.

And as per usual, the Standby Screw family’s generosity not only met but exceeded the goals and expectations we set for our company this year.

Neck and Neck for a Good Cause

There’s nothing like a bit of friendly competition, especially if it’s for such a good cause. This year, our Quality-Toolcrib and Acme departments found themselves in a bit of a photo-finish that was almost too close to call. Just when it looked as though Acme was going to take it all, Quality-Toolcrib came back in the last day and snuck past Acme by a nose. While there was only one true winner, because each team worked so hard, both will soon be enjoying a pizza lunch and a Giant Eagle gift card to commend their dedication.

By the Numbers

As always, we’re incredibly proud of the family here at Standby Screw: your commitment to helping others, serving your community and demonstrating the true meaning of the holidays; we thank you all. Be proud of what you accomplished during ‘Tis the Season and what you do for our company, every day.

The business has experienced continued success throughout the years due to changes implemented by each generation, such as the addition of robotics and an overseas plant, to improve accuracies and efficiencies.

In addition to being a family-owned business, Standby also has many employees who have been with the company throughout their entire career and now have children and grandchildren working within the organization.

Standby Screw Leads CWRU Baja Team to Best Season in History

It was so great to see the Case Western Reserve University Baja Team wrap up another successful season three weekends ago at Hogback Hill Motocross Park in Rochester, New York. The weekend featured best-ever finishes by the team in Acceleration and Hill Climb, earning 3rd and 4th places, respectively. The 3rd place finish in Acceleration earned the team its first performance-based trophy. The team also earned a best ever 5th place overall in all the four dynamic events; you can see the exciting footage from the Suspension and Traction course here. In the static events, the team finished 6th in the Sales Presentation and 12th in the Design Presentation. Overall, the team tied its mark from California to finish 23rd out of the 95 teams from around the world that attended the Rochester competition.

Rochester was the final competition for the team’s five seniors who devoted endless hours throughout their years at Case Western to the team. Their hard work and dedication has built CWRU Baja into an award-winning team that continues to improve each and every year. It’s been our pleasure to sponsor all of you and we can’t wait for next season!
